I am a Registered Dietitian and founded Optimized Nutrition in January, 2014. I have my Bachelors in Nutrition and Food Studies from New York University and my Masters in Dietetics and Nutrition from Florida International University. I am certified in Integrative & Functional Nutrition (Next Level Functional Nutrition) and am in the process of becoming certified in Functional Medicine by the Institute for Functional Medicine.

The mission of Optimized Nutrition is to provide individualized nutrition care that targets the root cause of common health ailments and strives for optimal wellness. I work with patients with a wide range of symptoms and conditions from obesity and hypertension to depression and epilepsy. Just about every chronic condition is related to nutritional and lifestyle imbalances.

I specialize in Functional Medicine/Functional Nutrition. The aim of Functional Medicine is to identify the root cause of a symptom or condition. Therapy focuses on treating the individual as a whole by giving the body what it needs to heal itself (as opposed to the popular approach of simply masking symptoms with pharmacological agents). I am also a LEAP Therapist and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. As a LEAP Therapist, I specialize in food sensitivities and their relation to weight gain, irritable bowl syndrome, migraines, fibromyalgia, attention deficit disorder, arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. Roughly 60% of the population, unknowingly, has food sensitivities.

In my practice, I incorporate a mix of conventional nutrition therapy and integrative therapy, which might be described as: Medical Nutrition Therapy, Integrative Nutrition, Functional Nutrition, Complementary Medicine, Alternative Therapy, Nutritional Medicine, Holistic Care.

  1. Dear Alison:

My name is Tracy Solomons and I am a Registered Nurse and have always worked in Wellness, Bio-Identical Hormones, Corporate Wellness (Royal Caribbean) Ran Primal Blueprint and Diabetes programs and worked extensively in Functional Medicine for Dr David Blyweiss.

My daughter recently had a baby and I was very impressed by the lactation consultant to the point that I have made inquiries about getting my certification for the International organization.

Would it be possible to have some of your time either by phone or I could come and meet you at your office to discuss how I can utilize these skills and perhaps pull them all together. It would be great to work together on some endeavor or just benefit by your guidance. I live in Key Biscayne.

    • Hi Tracy,

I’m so sorry, I just noticed this message. I’m not used to getting messages on my website. I hope you found what you are looking for. I actually moved to California so I’m no longer in your area. I actually am focused on functional nutrition and only work with breastfeeding in certain situations (such as colic, suspected food sensitivities, etc.). If you are still looking to connect with a lactation consultant in your area, you can try contacting The Gathering Place, Loving Start Lactation or La Leche League of Miami. Very cool that you worked in functional medicine! Too bad you’re not out here, I would LOVE to find a nurse practitioner to work with.
