I am a Registered Dietitian and founded Optimized Nutrition in January, 2014. I have my Bachelors in Nutrition and Food Studies from New York University and my Masters in Dietetics and Nutrition from Florida International University. I am certified in Integrative & Functional Nutrition (Next Level Functional Nutrition) and am in the process of becoming certified in Functional Medicine by the Institute for Functional Medicine.
The mission of Optimized Nutrition is to provide individualized nutrition care that targets the root cause of common health ailments and strives for optimal wellness. I work with patients with a wide range of symptoms and conditions from obesity and hypertension to depression and epilepsy. Just about every chronic condition is related to nutritional and lifestyle imbalances.
I specialize in Functional Medicine/Functional Nutrition. The aim of Functional Medicine is to identify the root cause of a symptom or condition. Therapy focuses on treating the individual as a whole by giving the body what it needs to heal itself (as opposed to the popular approach of simply masking symptoms with pharmacological agents). I am also a LEAP Therapist and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. As a LEAP Therapist, I specialize in food sensitivities and their relation to weight gain, irritable bowl syndrome, migraines, fibromyalgia, attention deficit disorder, arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. Roughly 60% of the population, unknowingly, has food sensitivities.
In my practice, I incorporate a mix of conventional nutrition therapy and integrative therapy, which might be described as: Medical Nutrition Therapy, Integrative Nutrition, Functional Nutrition, Complementary Medicine, Alternative Therapy, Nutritional Medicine, Holistic Care.
